PERSONALITY
DESCRIPTION:
Perhaps the part of her that's easiest to be seen on first experience with Mjoll is her intimidating presence. The events in her life have hardened her in some ways, and she's become a serious, thoughtful person. She will look at her actions and the actions of others and can usually look to the future to see how those actions will effect herself and others. She dreams of the same idealistic beliefs that Aerin thinks, and has a strong desire for those dreams to become a reality. She's an extremely mature woman that thinks before she speaks. Mjoll rarely tells personal things to strangers and it takes some time to gain her real trust or loyalty. Yet when that trust is gained, it's usually accompanied by her entire heart. She doesn't love easily, but she loves thoroughly.
There's two ultimate facets of Mjoll's personality. The first is her relentlessness and hatred for injustice. Her own childhood and experiences has left no gray area. Instead she tends to see things in either black or white. It's either wrong, or it isn't. She has no mercy toward those that would make the lives of others miserable or take things which don't belong to them - whether material possessions or lives. She would take up her weapon and fight anyone she feels is included in that group without a second thought to her own life or any reward. She can't stand any that would take advantages of others weakness and fights for a world that Aerin has envisioned for her. To her enemies or those types of people, she's relentless and persistent in putting them down, as she would a mad dog. Her justice is as swift as it is complete. She does not second guess herself, and once she sets out in a course of action, she carries it through. Cross her, and she will hunt you.
The other part of her is a very kind person. Despite her intimidating presence, Mjoll is a peaceful person (unless pushed) and enjoys showing kindness to others. She likes people and though she might not always converse as much as she should, she has a weakness for helping the plights of others, regardless if she knows them well or not. While she's not soft by any means, she is concerned about others and would never put an innocent in danger if at all possible to avoid doing so.
Mjoll has traveled extensively in Tamriel, and has an undying curiosity of the world and the things in it. She's gotten nearly killed over her desire to learn more, and though she came from very humble beginnings, she thirsts for knowledge and will take every opportunity to try and learn things she didn't before. She enjoys reading a great deal - even struggling over many campfires to learn how to do so properly. Her curiosity has been known to get her in trouble, but it doesn't stop her.
HISTORY
History: Mjoll was born in a life common to many nords. Her village life was filled with the knowledge that you didn't wander too far outside the borders and guards were posted nightly to ensure safety. Still, Mjoll and her older brothers would sneak outside of the camps often. While outside that protection, they would do most anything. Collect different ingredients, play mock battles, and all around adventure. Mjoll was eight when that all changed. Bandits attacked her village. Her older brother saved her by hiding her nearby and protecting her location. It cost him his life. Mjoll was forced to watch as one bandit killed her brother - he laughed while he did it. Both of her brothers and her mother were killed in that attack, and the village was burned. What few survivors were scattered and left not long after. Mjoll's father took her and they went away as well - but Mjoll was never the same after that experience. Gone was the carefree child, and instead what emerged in her place was a thoughtful woman. She matured in her thinking at a very young age largely because of that event.
Mjoll was then given to her grandparents in Whiterun while her father hunted the bandits. He came back home when he had killed every one that he could find, and they settled down to live there. He supported them through his hunting, bringing home valuable things to sell. Soon though, he got anxious. Taking his daughter, they wandered from place to place, rarely staying for any length of time. Mjoll was taught everything her father knew. Survival, plant identification, hunting, and combat skills. He wished her to follow in his footsteps and become a hunter. When she was just seventeen, with his blessing she went off to see Tamriel. There was more to offer, she thought, than just Skyrim. While she knew it disappointed her father, she never heard him complain. For years she went on many adventures around Tamriel, extensively traveling. Yet she would always come back and find her father to check on him. When she was twenty four, the time she came back, she found he had been killed, from what she heard, by a saber-cat attack. Traveling bards had found him near death and tried to heal him - but he was lost.
With nothing else - her grandparents having died from natural causes - Mjoll continued to adventure. Yet she never became a sellsword, and always adventured on her own terms. She's seen many things, been many places, and yet Skyrim continues to call to her, bringing her back time and time again. Always highly curious about dwarven race, Mjoll was in the ruins of Mzinchaleft when she ran into the worst enemy she's ever fought. Badly wounded, she only escaped with her life because of her prowess and persistence. Yet she collapsed and was found by a man named Aerin, who took her to Riften and nursed her back to health. Once there, she was told about the corruption of the Thieves Guild, and agreed to stay and help in return for him saving her life. Still, over time her reasons for staying seemed to be somewhat strange. Mjoll has never been around a more influential person than Aerin, and constantly looks up to his idealistic viewpoint and desire for change. She's constantly loyal to him and has taken on his cause for perhaps more than simply being thankful for her life.
WEAPONS, ABILITIES AND MAGIC
WEAPON(S): Hunting bow - A simple, yet durable weapon, Mjoll uses this in any long range combat she finds herself in, and is quite proficient with it.
Steel battle axe - A heavy, two handed weapon, Mjoll likes to through her enemies with single, heavy blows.
MAJOR SKILLS:
- Archery - Mjoll has always been an adventurer, but with that comes nearly constant danger. She's become very adept at handling bows to fell anything she needs to while she's on her adventures. If need be, she's been known to use her bow as more of a sword like weapon, and can use it basically as an extension of her arm in hand to hand combat.
- Two handed - a true Nord, Mjoll is as strong as you would expect. While lithe, she can wield two handed weapons. She uses it with brute force backing her, but she also integrates a certain grace in how she wields it, going beyond the normal nord way of simply hacking and brutally beating.
- One handed - While she has the strength to wield two handed, Mjoll also has a certain grace that allows her to wield one handed just as easily. She takes on a much more elegant approach at fighting than is normal for her race, and hits with deadly accuracy instead of simply brute force.
- Lockpicking - Never one to use this for any way to help herself to the values of others, Mjoll does use this skill while adventuring in ruins and the like. She's gotten fairly good at using her hands to open doors and chests to get the loot within.
- Nature - Her time spent abroad has given her a keen sense of knowledge on plant life and the natural world around her. She knows which plants are poisonous, which ones help ease pain, and generally which taste good in meals.
- Animals - Mjoll seems to have a certain way with beasts, and seems to be able to make friends with various creatures fairly easily. She enjoys their company and can often be found befriending various animals.
